Internet Safety - Trouble-less Texting

So you’re not a “catfish person” huh?…

…well you’re going like the Internet version of “catfish” even less!

Internet “catfishing” is when a person pretends to be someone they are not in order to scam a victim.

The person may claim to be a government official, a company representative, or even someone you know. The problem is that you don’t know who they REALLY are and, if you are not careful, they may trick you into giving them something.

If, for any reason, you are not certain you are talking to the person they say they are, the best thing you can do is terminate the conversation and reach out to whoever the person claims to be another way.

Either call them directly or go to the website directly (don’t use any links or numbers the potential “catfish” gives you).

And remember that banks, government entities and other legitimate companies will never ask for personal or financial information in a text message, so NEVER send your private information in an unsecure text message thread.
