Receiving Email: Phishing

BE CAREFUL – You might have got scammed! Try this one…

THE “DELAYED DELIVERY” SCAM:

This phishing scam has grown since the pandemic because so many people started ordering online and expect packages regularly. It may claim to come from Fed-Ex, USPS, Amazon, etc.

Can you see the “red flags” in the example below?

Image of phishing scam using a FexEx delayed delivery email

1. A genuine Fed-Ex email address would have the FedEx.com domain but the domain of the address in this email is “likano.com”

2. This email shows a “via” in the email address which means the email didn’t even come from the email address in the email. These “hidden” email addresses are always a “red flag.”

3. Fed-Ex (and most of the other legitimate shipping companies) does not send unsolicited emails to customers requesting information regarding packages, invoices, account numbers, passwords or personal information.
